Fleet Analyzer’s new emissions module provides the most accurate emissions insights, based on a proprietary methodology for fuel burn models and CO₂ calculations, and leverages actual flight hours versus great circle distances.
What is the source of the new metrics?
Fuel burn and CO₂ emissions are calculated on a subset of tracked aircraft for the global commercial transport fleet.
The sources of tracked aircraft are shown below:
- January 2017 – May 2022: sourced from FR24 (ground-based ADS-B)
- May 2022 – present day: sourced from Aireon (space-based ADS-B)
If the tracked aircraft match specific aircraft and engine master series combinations (focused on narrow, wide, and regional jets), then we calculate the fuel burn and CO₂ emissions.
What date range is covered?
Jan 2017 onwards.
When and how often is the data updated?
Once per month, on the 5th of each month, the previous month’s data is added.
Does Fleets Analyzer show fuel burn and emissions per flight?
No. Fleets Analyzer does not include any individual flight details. The most granular the data can be viewed in Fleets Analyzer is per aircraft per month.
Do the fuel burn and emissions calculations consider the whole flight?
Yes. Fuel burn and emissions are calculated “gate-to-gate” i.e. they include taxi-in and taxi-out. Note: reported and tracked hours are both based on air-hours ONLY, and do not include taxi-in and out times.
Fuel burn and CO₂ emissions data is available as an additional Fleets Analyzer - Commercial module. To find out more contact your Cirium account manager, or email helpdesk@cirium.com.
