On June 2, 2021, we released several improvements to the Connections API that include the following:
- Faster querying time
- Minimum Connect Time enhancements to produce better options
- Scoring mechanism is reversed
The querying time for Connections will continue to vary widely. For simple flights, it's now less than a second, but upwards of 5 seconds for 3-flight trips. The scoring mechanism and the corresponding ordering of the flight connections displayed will change. Your Connections API results will still be based on weighted parameters, filtering options and connection times. However, a lower score will now indicate a route that better matches your needs relative to other alternatives.
What is the Minimum Connect Time (MCT)?
Minimum Connecting time is the amount of transfer time, agreed in advance between airlines and airport authorities, that is considered sufficient for a passenger to make a connection between an arriving flight and a departing flight.
