A Fleets Analyzer accident is an airframe affected incident likely to result in an insurance claim. Damage exclusively to engines are not covered unless it results in airframe hull damage. Fleets Analyzer will display any available related details such as when and where the accident occurred, the aircraft details, the phase of flight and a description of the event.
Cirium researches and publishes data for both operational and non-operational accidents.
Operational Accident
An accident (loss event) that occurs between the time the first person (passenger or crew) boards the aircraft with the intention of flight until the last person leaves after flight. This also applies in situations where the pilot briefly exits the aircraft during the ground portion of a 'flight' e.g. a pilot gets out of a helicopter to check on something, leaving its engine running, during a flight. For unmanned aircraft it is between the time the aircraft is ready to move with the purpose of flight until such time it comes to rest at the end of the flight, and the primary propulsion system is shut down.
Non-operational Accident
An accident (loss event) that occurs when there is no intention of flight, or before the first person has boarded the aircraft with the intention of flight, or after the last person has left the aircraft after flight. Accidents that happen during servicing, cargo loading/unloading etc. before the first person has boarded with the intention of flight, or after the last person has left after flight, are deemed to be 'non-operational'.
