Report Capabilities:
The FM Traffic Segment report shows details for each unique itinerary which touches the Segment Airport or which routes a flight segment through the Segment Airport to the Segment Destination airport. The results can be summarized to show only Airlines or O&Ds, or expanded to show each unique way of getting from the origin to the destination via the specified segment. Values shown include total traffic passenger estimates and market share of those passengers, average fare and revenue, and the distance between the Origin and Destination.
Using the Report:
To report on all passengers which travel through a given airport, where the airport is Origin, Connect Point, or Destination, specify a Segment Airport and leave the Segment Destination field blank. To report on traffic which flows over a specific segment from the Segment Airport to the Segment Destination, provide values in both of those fields. The report can return data in per day or per period (month, quarter, or year) granularity and may also be filtered by Service Class. If you are examining a segment used by an overwhelming number of itineraries, then you can filter out the less-travelled itineraries by selecting a minimum cut-off market share percentage from the "Only show details >" menu. Data for all of the miscellaneous less-travelled itineraries is then aggregated together into the "OTHER" row.
Marketing/Operating Airline Codes:
You may insert one airline code here. Use this field to only return itineraries where this specific airline operates the flight along the chosen segment or touching the Segment Airport. Leave this field blank to see the traffic for all airlines. When a value is provided here and the Segment Destination is filled in, then the report returns data for all flights operated by this airline along the segment from the Segment Airport to the Segment Destination. Otherwise, when a value is provided here and the Segment Destination is left blank, then the report returns data for all flights operated by this airline which arrive or depart from the Segment Airport, no matter where it lies along the itinerary.
Segment Origin:
You must enter a 3-character airport code here, and you cannot leave this field blank. When a value is provided here and the Segment Destination is filled in, then the report focuses in on a particular segment, and all itineraries returned will include the segment which goes from this airport to the Segment Destination provided. Otherwise, when a value is provided here and the Segment Destination is left blank, then the report focuses on all flights which touch this airport, returning all itineraries which include this airport as Origin, Connect Point, or Destination.
Segment Destination:
You may insert one 3-character airport code here. Use this field to focus the report on a specific segment running from the Segment Airport to the destination provided here. When this field is used, all itineraries returned will include a segment which departs from the Segment Airport and arrives in this destination. If this field is left blank, then the report returns all flights which touch the Segment Airport as Origin, Connect Point, or Destination.
Show Orig and Dest?
Check the appropriate boxes to add Origin, Destination, and Distance columns to the report output. If checked, all unique origin and destination combinations will be shown on separate rows. Uncheck this box to have origin and destination codes suppressed in the report output, effectively consolidating data for them together.
Show Connect points?
Select the checkbox if you would like to see up to 5 connection points in the report's output columns. These connection point columns will be labeled "Stop #1", "Stop #2", etc. If fewer than 5 connection point columns are included in the report, then that means that none of the itineraries shown have more stops than the number of connection points shown.
Show Airlines?
Select the appropriate checkbox if you would like to see each airline involved in each leg of the route. Leave these boxes unchecked to sum all airlines.
Only show details>
Select a market share percentage here to serve as a minimum cutoff for filtering out the less-traveled itineraries which incorporate the segment you are examining. Data for all of the miscellaneous less-traveled itineraries with market shares less than the cutoff selected here is aggregated together into the "OTHER" row in the resulting report. For example, if you selected "1.0%", then any itinerary that served less than 1.0% of the people flying in the resulting report would be combined together into the "OTHER" row of your report.
Travel Period:
Choose how you want the report to filter on Travel Dates. For fixed report dates, use Absolute Dates. For report dates relative to the time the report is run, use Relative Dates. Relative Dates are more useful for saved or scheduled reports. Annual Time Series always use Absolute Dates.

Month Year:
The Month and Year are used to target your report on a specific period of time. You must specify the Month and Year which you wish to examine.
Show Results:
Indicate whether you would like to have passenger and revenue figures returned on a "per day" basis, or on a "per period" basis.
- Per Day
Data in the passenger and revenue columns will be expressed in daily totals, showing passengers per day and revenue per day. - Per Period
Data in the passenger and revenue columns will be expressed in monthly, quarterly, or yearly totals, depending upon the Report type you have chosen. Setting Report type to "Twelve Month Sum" shows passengers per year and revenue per year, while setting Report type to "Requested Quarter", "Compare Two Quarters", or "Quarterly Time Series" shows passengers per quarter and revenue per quarter, and setting Report type to "Requested Month", "Compare Two Months", or "Monthly Time Series" shows passengers per month and revenue per month.
Service Class:
Choose one or more of the classes of service to concentrate on in this report: "All Classes", "First Class", "Business Class", "Premium Economy Class", "Discount Economy Class", "Other Classes". Drilling Down:
If you generated the Report in HTML or Text Output format, there are several ways you can use links from the report to "drill down" into additional information in more detail:
- Clicking on a 3-character airport code in the title of an HTML or Text-formatted report generates an Airport report which shows you more details about an airport.
These options are only available in the HTML Output format, where they are accessed by clicking on links in the appropriate column:
- Orig, Stop #1, Stop #2, etc.,or Dest
Clicking on a 3-character airport code in an airport column generates an Airport report which shows you more details about the selected airport.
