Within Fleets Analyzer you can select Market Grouping and / or Market Grouping (Ascend); enabling quick handling of groups of aircraft sharing similar characteristics. These fields can be used as search filters, groups (for Summary and Trend views), and columns (Detail view).
Market Grouping contains the following three fields, arranged in a hierarchy:-
- Market Sector
- Market Class
- Market Grouping
Aircraft are assigned to these groups at sub-series level, based on their design purpose. This means that aircraft at series level (and above) can be split across different market groups; for example the Boeing 767 appears as follows:-
Market Grouping (Ascend) contains a single field:-
- Aircraft Class
Aircraft are assigned to an Aircraft Class group at type level, hence all aircraft within a single programme appear in a single group. So if you want to search for all (Western built) Jets, regardless of their design purpose, then this is the recommended filter (e.g. the entire 767 fleet is a member of this group). This grouping is the same as was used in the Ascend Fleets database, and so provides an easy way to recreate Ascend searches in Fleets Analyzer.
