A flight’s Status field summarizes the current state of a flight. The field is updated in real time as information about a flight is received.
Pre-Departure Status:
Scheduled (S) - A scheduled flight is one that is anticipated to depart and arrive according to either a published flight schedule or by filed flight plans.
Statuses During Operation:
Active (A) - A flight is set to Active when we receive the Actual Gate Departure time or Actual Runway Departure Time.
Redirected (R) - If the flight’s destination has changed to an unscheduled airport, this status code will be used instead of Active.
Final Statuses:
Landed (L) - A flight is set to Landed when we receive the Actual Runway Arrival time or Actual Gate Arrival time.
Diverted (D) - If the flight’s destination was changed to an unscheduled airport, this code will be used instead of Landed.
Cancelled (C) - The flight was cancelled.
Unknown (U) - A flight goes to this status when we cannot determine the actual arrival time (Actual Runway Arrival Time or Actual Gate Arrival Time) in a reasonable amount of time. Note, this does not indicate an error or that there was any problem or incident with the flight, only that no data was available for the actual landing time.
NOT OPERATIONAL/DELETED (NO) - The flight is not operational.
