Reported utilization data is supplied via contributing airframe OEMs, who provide updates to an individual aircraft's cumulative hours and cycles record, typically on a monthly or quarterly update basis. A variety of data points and statistics can be determined from the update history including hours/cycles per period and various average calculations.
Note: (i) not all airline operators permit their OEM to report through reported data to approved third party data suppliers. (ii) best case there is a 3-month lag between a completed months reported utilization and availability in the data set. (iii) Cirium Fleets Analyzer Projection feature incorporates an estimating algorithm to account for missing historical data to help minimize impact of the aforementioned issues.

Tracked utilization data uses independent data harvesting techniques to derive each aircraft's utilization record from airline flight status data feeds, ADSB radar tracking and upstream positional data sources. This approach also has the benefit of incorporating geographical departure and arrival history for each flight.
